Welcome to Bet The Jockey!
“Jockeys are dependable, portable skill sets, they know how to make a winner out of [any] particular ride.”
Jim Cathcart is an entrepreneur of over 40 years, an internationally traveling professional speaker and author of 18 books, including Relationship Selling and The Acorn Principle. He’s today’s guest and he starts us off with a song: “if you want to build a better world, build a better you.”
Jim’s done this by building himself hour by hour, if at least one per day, ever since he began studying motivational speaking tactics in the ’70s. In less than 5 years, he had developed himself into an authority in his field and that’s just the start!
Today’s interview is a particular ray of sunshine. There’s so much valuable wisdom here: about the patient tedium of persistence, about cultivating skills and connections for things unknown, for cutting your losses and kicking the cancers out.
Let us inspire, maybe even push you! I loved talking to Jim, (he really elaborates on the jockey metaphors!) because he underlines the importance of the driver and not the ride. So ride your gazelle, your zebra, your giraffe. Be the kind of jockey worth betting on.
Visit his site and check out his bookshop, so many gems ready to add to your library. If you’re ready to take the plunge and develop a book of your own with Mr. Cathcart yourself, take a look at this page. At the very least, check out his Tedx Talk: How to Believe in Yourself
